Biography Somashree Biswas is an Assistant Professor of Political Science whose research focuses on caste politics, Dalit-Muslim alliances, and the political imaginations of marginalized communities in contemporary India. She earned her M.A. in Political Science from the University of Gour Banga and holds an M.Phil from the Institute of Development Studies Kolkata (IDSK), affiliated with the University of Calcutta. Her M.Phil dissertation, titled Popular Biographies and Dalit Politics in Contemporary West Bengal, draws on interdisciplinary methods to explore how popular narratives and memory practices shape subaltern political assertion in postcolonial Bengal. She has contributed to two edited volumes. Her chapter, “Mahapran Jogendranath: A Critical Analysis”, appears in the book Caste, Social Formation, Political Mobilization. Another chapter titled “The Role of Religious and Traditional Systems Regarding Child Marriage: A Study” is included in the volume Child Marriage: The Root of Social Maladies.
